1/2/2023 0 Comments Golf clash notebook wind![]() ![]() Let's take your Viper example, 2 mph/ring max, 2.5 mph/ring min. Personally I think using mph/ring is easiest to use if you're calculating on the fly. Sometimes one ring might equal one yard, sometimes it might equal three yards. The challenge is that ring sizes change with the accuracy of the club, so your yardstick is variable. The rings are merely used as a yardstick to measure how far to make that adjustment. In other words, if your aim point is 135 yards (minimum wood distance), and you have a 10 mph crosswind, whether you have a Big Dawg or a Sniper your aim location after the wind adjustment should be the same. Let me throw in my two cents to see if I can add some clarity.įirst, with regards to wind adjustments, regardless of the club, for any given distance and wind the distance you actually move over the ground should be the same. Thanks for explaining, I hope I got this right now, haha It's because I haven't been moving the rings amount per the wind. It was easy to do it that way, but I've always wondered why my shots aren't always perfect like 50% of the time, haha. I've been doing it based off the other way, the wind per ring, haha. If that is the case, i've been using the wind ring system all wrong, hahaha. 7 of a ring? Is that correct? And with 5mph, the same lvl8 Viper would be: max distance 2.5 rings, mid distance 2.2 rings and min distnace would be 1.9 rings? Max distance would be 1 ring, mid distance would be. So according to the rings per wind chart I just made on gcn, I would adjust the following way for this 2mph wind: My Viper lvl8 in a 2mph wind left to right. So first of all, I should figure my clubs with the rings per wind mph chart option, not the mph/ring option?Īnd if I do that, it will show larger numbers of rings needed to move per 1mph of wind? So let me try an ex and you can tell me if I'm right or wrong, haha. ![]() I tttttthink I understand what you are saying and how it's backwards but right. I'm not a math/science minded person, so this might take me a bit to wrap my mind around, haha. Not just knowing and adjusting for wind, and now elevation, but also for max, mid, and min club distances to fine tune the shot even more. As the ball is in the air longer on a max shot, then a min shot, and yet these wind charts for my clubs on all these sites are saying I have to adjust more rings as the distance goes down!Ĭan anyone clear this up for me? I'm trying to take my game to the next level. The max distance is the lowest amount of ring adjustment, and yet somehow, as you get shorter in distance with the club, you have to adjust it MORE?!?! That makes NO sense. So as you can see, this info is the EXACT opposite of what Tommy's website and Golfclashnotebook are spitting out for me. Min distance is right at the line where you would change to the lower club if you pull the bulls eye back any further. Half way would be in the middle of max distance and before you change down to a smaller club. Max distance would be as far out as the club will go and pulling the ball back to the center of the circle to shot, so with big dawg that would be 2.5 wind per ring. The way I understand it (could be wrong) is like this: So which one is right? This is so confusing! This is an exact quote pulled out of another thread on this topic, and there are many others exactly like it I could find and quote: So according to those descriptions, it would be Max 2.5, Mid 2.2 and Min 2. Okīut when I read explanations of how this all works here on reddit in lots of other places, they say the exact opposite! They say that as the club distance gets pulled back/shorter, the wind effects it less, which means you don't have to adjust as much. On golfclashnotebook website, if I put in my clubs (we'll just use my Viper to make this super easy), it says the Viper lvl 8 has a max ring adjustment of 2, Mid is 2.2, and min is 2.5. ![]() The Tommy website, golfclashnotebook and a few others say one thing, and then when reading up on the topic here on Reddit, people say the exact opposite of the the wind charts you can make on the websites. So I'm super confused about this min, mid, and max distance for the wind rings. ![]()
